unit 2 week 2 post b
This week I want to talk about how realistic this book is. If you want the sum of this post in two words here it is: its not. I'm afraid as the more and more I read this book, the more and more I'm having trouble believing it would happen this way. I mean its not far fetched or anything on that extreme, but I would guess that harsher things would occur. Take Nick's dad for example. His military commander got executed, but he got sent to a concentration camp instead. I find this odd because he was basically incharge of the military commander. I think the only reason why the author kept him alive is because he is Nick's dad and it would make the book much more dark if he died. Which leads me to believe that this book is targetting a younger audience then a teenager my age. Now don't take me as a guy who wants blood and guts to be spilled in every chapter, I don't want that at all. I think that its possible to make a good book on the occurings of tribal city in Burma light but still mostly accurate because little fighting goes on in that section of Burma, which is the darkest part of war. However, putting a person in a situation were they would be normally be killed, and then not killing them makes me think this author is sensoring the book more and taking away the truth. Which I think deters the point of the book, which is too give prospective on what happened to Burma.
